Prof Michael Hausser of UCL leads a 4-year PhD programme entitled "Optical Biology", which will train 5 PhD students per year. The programme has support from several academic partners (providing internships) and industry partners like Andor, Coherent and Zeiss (providing training, equipment access, internships, and advisory board membership). Profs Hausser and Riccio and Dr Henriques lead the training programme, which covers advanced optical techniques for biological imaging. Students will gain expertise in areas like super-resolution microscopy through lab rotations, specialized courses, and research projects applying cutting-edge imaging tools to study neuronal structure and function.
