Our Lab's Participation in ITQB NOVA's Open Day

On March 15, 2025, our laboratory took part in the annual Open Day hosted by ITQB NOVA (Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica António Xavier) in Oeiras, Portugal. It is the institute's largest public event of the year.

Fluorescence Microscopy

Our team ran an interactive booth on how fluorescence microscopy works and what it is used for. Visitors saw how the technique makes cellular structures and processes visible that the eye cannot see, and our researchers demonstrated several fluorescence methods and where they matter in biological research.

The demonstrations were built to work for visitors of any age or background, and the hands-on display drew people in.

Record Attendance and Public Engagement

This year's Open Day drew about 2,000 visitors to the ITQB NOVA campus, the highest attendance so far.

The audience included families, students, teachers and people from many other backgrounds. Our booth stayed busy all day.
