Super-Beacons and Beacon-STORM - a new generation of small tunable photoswitching probes and Super-Resolution approaches

Funding Image
Agency: BBSRC
Type: New Investigator Research Grant
Principal Investigator: Ricardo Henriques
Start-date: January 2016
End-date: December 2018

We propose developing Super-Beacons, a new fluorescent probe for faster, multicolor, live-cell super-resolution imaging. Beacon-STORM, a new analytical framework, will take advantage of Super-Beacon properties for improved resolution. Super-Beacons and Beacon-STORM will be applied to image clathrin-mediated endocytosis dynamics to reveal receptor clustering requirements. This will enhance super-resolution microscopy and its application in cell biology.
